If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, baptism is an important next step. Baptism is a public way of saying, “I belong to Jesus.” It doesn't save you, but it shows others that you have trusted Jesus and want to follow Him.

​At HiWay, we practice baptism by immersion because we believe it best represents the picture of new life we see in Scripture.

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

Baptism is a picture of what Jesus has done in your life. Going into the water represents Jesus' death and burial. Coming out of the water represents His resurrection and the new life we have through Him.

Baptism is a public expression of your faith and your desire to follow Jesus. It's not about becoming perfect. It's about publicly identifying yourself with Jesus.

WHY SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?

Jesus calls His followers to be baptized. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus told His disciples to make disciples and baptize them. Throughout the book of Acts, we see people responding to faith in Jesus through baptism.

Baptism is an act of obedience, identification, and celebration. You are telling the church and the people around you: Jesus has changed my life, and I want to follow Him.
